I'm sorry for this belated post, but Thor has celebrated his 1st birthday on July 11, 2013. What makes him EXTRA special is that he is a wild rat. I found him a year ago, with hair already covering his body so the assumption was that he's about 3 weeks old that time. During that time, I also found his sister the day after, but she didn't live longer than her 2 weeks of stay with us. Nevertheless she was an angel and I'm sure her buddies really missed her. For his first birthday, Thor gets something he really loves... all to himself!
Another unique feature is his physical attributes and temperament. He's larger than the average domesticated pet rat, and while he's relatively tolerant of humans, he does bully his roommates alot. =( On the good side, I've already bred him several times and have produced offspring of good temperament and also of larger build. The ones produced from his line have the grey underside typical of the wild ones. I'm hoping that it would be possible to produce a real agouti SELF someday, the one with agouti coloring even to the underbelly. Maybe it's just a matter of undermarking genes? We'll see someday...
