Mark your calendars folks! April 4 is the day for giving appreciation to rats all over the world: so let’s give a rat a hug for this day!
RATS DESERVE R.E.S.P.E.C.T.!
This may seem like a strange idea to those who are not already familiar with rats. But did you know how much joy rats have contributed in our lives? Click here for more information.
And just in case you don’t already know, rats are considered bringer of good luck in many cultures of the world. They were even worshipped in some ancient civilizations! Click here for more information.
Wherever man is, rats thrive... except Antarctica!
ABOUT WORLD RAT DAY
In 2002, discussion of a special holiday to honor and promote pet rats was initiated. April 4 was then selected out of the 365 days of the year, because that day is associated with the founding of the ‘Ratlist’ (owned by James Kittock and Robyn Arthur, it is the longest standing mailing list on the internet dedicated to the topic of the pet rat). You can read more about it here:
So it’s up to you how to celebrate this day: throw a private party, make press release, or just have a plain intimate time and dinner with your rats. For those who don’t own rats, all the rats need is a simple gesture of appreciation by giving more respect to them as living creatures who deserve a loving place on this earth.
An intimate dinner/buffet between me and my rats would suffice. Here are some foods that my rats would love to have...
Salt and peppered, deep-fried sweet potato (white variety)
|
Donuts: chocolate, strawberry and blueberry filled :)
|
Chocolate porridge
|
HAPPY WORLD RAT DAY!!
